Junior Rails Developer

  • JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    As a junior rails developer you will be working with our core server team to enhance and improve the server part of Scoreloop's offering. Tasks include the writing of controllers and views. You will have to write extensive specs (tests) to ensure high code quality for your code changes. You should enjoy writing maintainable code and be familiar with software architecture concepts (e.g. design patterns). The tasks will lead you into various areas of our server code, so you can gain experience with different technologies.

    * Extending and improving the client-server API together with the client side team
    * Write specs for all your changes
    * Enhance and improve our other applications having a Web front end
    * Work with our bug tracking system to reproduce and fix errors

    REQUIREMENTS:

    * A university degree in computer science (or in other science)
    * A strong passion for software architecture and software development
    * Experience in Web technologies like JavaScript
    * Understanding of relational databases
    * Experience in Ruby on Rails and Ruby or similar languages
    * Enjoy working in a team
    * Organized and comfortable managing multiple tasks simultaneously
    * Proven communication skills / Attention to detail
    * Strong command of English
    * Self-starting, driven and passionate

    DESIRED SKILLS AND PLUSES:
    * Interest in mobile social gaming and social networks
    * Experience with iPhone/Android
